EN 1498 Rescue loops
Rescue loop Class A: Component of personal protective equip-ment for rescue purposes consisting of elements designed and constructed so that during the rescue process the person being rescued is held and kept in a defined position.
Rescue loop class B: Component of personal protective equip-ment consisting of elements designed and constructed in such a way that, during the rescue process, the person being rescued is held sitting in the loop.
Rescue loop class C: Component of personal protective equip-ment consisting of elements designed and constructed in such a way that, during the rescue process, the person being rescued is held in a position with their head down and with the loop fastened around their ankles.
Stitching: The stitching must be of a contrasting colour in order to facilitate visual inspection.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Corrosion resistance
All metal parts must be tested in a two stage corrosion test. They must be exposed to the salt spray test (EN ISO 9227). After the test, they must show no evidence of corrosion that would stop them working properly.
White scaling or tarnishing is acceptable if the function is not im-paired.
Static strength test
Each attachment point must be tested.
Dynamic elongation test (drop test)
Each attachment point must be tested.
